Apprenticeship as a hotel management assistant
Hotel specialists plan work processes in the hotel, look after and advise hotel guests and ensure their well-being. In the process, hotel specialists lend a hand in all departments of a hotel. For example, they prepare and check guest rooms, serve in the restaurant and work in the kitchen. They organize events and assign rooms. Hotel specialists issue invoices, plan staff deployment and supervise the kitchen help staff, for example. They are also responsible for accounting and inventory management. They negotiate with tour operators and are involved in the development and implementation of marketing measures in large hotels. You bring the following prerequisites with you:
The most important thing for us is that you would also like to deal with people in a professionally appreciative manner. You have at least completed secondary school. Because of the working hours you are 16 years old or older.
If you enjoy service, like working in a team, and are flexible and able to work under pressure, we look forward to receiving your application!
Training position as a cook
You're bored with packet soup, even your teachers admire your homemade sandwiches at school, and your parents would rather have you cook for them more often? Maybe you are destined to become a chef. While your customers' mouths are watering in the restaurant, you'll be standing in the background in the kitchen, making sure they enjoy their meal and that everyone is full. During your training, you'll learn all the necessary steps and the right way to handle all the food so that you can cook not only well, but also quickly. Because the commercial kitchen is usually not quite as entertaining as Tim Mälzer's TV cooking studio. Here, a lot of team spirit, resilience and concentration is required so that the soup is not oversalted in the end.
Like many other apprenticeships, training to become a chef is based on the dual system, i.e. at vocational school and in the company. While you learn everything about the storage and preparation of different foods from artichokes to onions in vocational school, you apply this knowledge directly in the kitchen. The working hours and the program of your kitchen depend very much on the type of your training company. In a restaurant, for example, it is important not only to prepare a delicious dinner, but also to make it tangible for all the senses and to decorate it accordingly, whereas in the cafeteria, the main thing is to appeal to as many visitors as possible with the menu and to fill them up during the lunch break.
Dual Study Programme International Business Management (B.A.)
The world is open to graduates of the dual study programme International Business Management (B.A.) with a focus on hotel management. Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, London - where to go?
The international hotel industry is one of the largest employers worldwide. According to the World Tourism Organization, 270 million jobs or one in ten jobs are already in the service sector.
The tasks in hotel management are varied and interesting: Depending on the guests, you will have new experiences and experience new impressions every day. In the course of your dual studies in a hotel, you will learn right from the start to make the intangible tangible and to give your hotel guests an unforgettable experience instead of just a hotel room. You will be well prepared for this challenge with your dual studies in hotel management at the ISBA study location in Freiburg.
